WHAT'S HAPPENING AT ACM@UCO?
The Academy of Contemporary Music at the University of Central Oklahoma (ACM@UCO) is more than a music school, it's a connection. UCO has teamed up with the ACM of London to offer a music education that really is all about the music. Students are taught by accomplished musicians, production experts, and music business professionals, people who have been there. Not only that, but students will also receive master class instruction from some of today's stars from the world of rock, pop, gospel and country music. Through ACM@UCO, students will connect to the music industry through auditions, live performances, industry showcases, as well as a web-based database of talent. At ACM@UCO, our focus is on building the careers of our talented students through preparation and exposure.
ACM MASTER CLASSES
ACM@UCO hosts a series of Masterclasses with guests that include The Who's Roger Daltrey, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Jackson Browne, songwriter/pianist Ben Folds, Moby, in-demand producer Greg Kurstin (Kelly Clarkson, Lily Allen, Foster the People), multi-instrumentalist Steven Drozd of the Flaming Lips, Mark Volman of the Turltles, industry veteran Danny Goldberg, legendary guitarist and producer Nile Rodgers, songwriter and guitarist John Oates, Dr. Dog, guitar legend Adrian Belew, and photographer Mick Rock
A Masterclass is set up as an interview session with Scott Booker followed by a Q&A with students. Generally Masterclasses are open to the public and have drawn hundreds of visitors to the school.
The Business Development Center is the branch of ACM@UCO that is dedicated to helping students acheive their goals by providing insight and direct access to the music industry. The BDC connects students to the idustry through internships, performance and recording opportunities.
